Durban Green Corridor is seeking to recruit a Programmes/Projects Operations Manager based at our head office at Blue Lagoon and reporting to the Chief Executive Officer.

The successful candidate should have the following minimum qualifications and experience:

  • Matric / Grade 12,
  • A Diploma or Degree in Project Management,
  • Business Management with Project Management as a major or any relevant qualification from a recognized tertiary institution;
  • In addition, a qualification in Environment Management will be an added advantage;
  • Over 5 years extensive experience as in this advertised role, familiar with engaging in projects and programmes of various kinds;
  • Leading in discussions with professionals in the design, planning and implementation of infrastructural development projects.

Individual attributes for the successful candidate should include:

  • Meticulous organizational skills, ability to multi-task, attention to details;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication;
  • Experienced in various Microsoft packages, excellence in Word, Excel, PowerPoint;
  • Knowledge of Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) or/and Gannt Charts;
  • Excellent facilitation and report writing skills;
  • Self-motived and willingness to work under pressure in a fast-paced role.

 The incumbent will fulfil the following duties:

  • Manages the development and implementation of the Durban Green Corridors Environmental Programme consisting of the following main work areas:
    • Engage in the Transformation of various Green Open Spaces or sites under DGC for Ecotourism and Youth Empowerment;
    • Use of riparian plastic pollution management system to create circular economy development;
    • Use of Bio-based to create circular economy development

Duties will include but not limited to:

  • Efficient management of operations to ensure that the operational processes and procedures are in place to meet the requirements of the organisation, this includes Management of Special Infrastructural Development Projects which involves implementing teams, procurement of materials and services;
  • Ensure there is effective planning, organisation of resources, rollout of projects and processes according to agreed Project Implementation Plans;
  • In liaison with relevant departments including finance and the office of the CEO, effectively plan the resources allocation as per site requirements;
  • Oversee the inventory of all operational related equipment as well as vehicles;
  • Identify and report problem areas, and maintain health and safety standards within the DGC sites;
  • Work with the CEO and management in the growth path of DGC Environmental Management Programme

Strategic Duties:

  • Establish, maintain, lead relations with stakeholders and operational partners;
  • Support the CEO in the development of resourcing partnerships and mobilization of projects resources;
  • Supervise team members and be able to manage multicultural teams and demonstrate a high degree of cultural sensitivity;
  • Motivate, organize and encourage teamwork within the workforce to ensure set productivity targets are met
