About the Bike Park

The Bike Program is funded by the Go!Durban Program with the aim of promoting a culture of cycling in order to increase the amount of non-motorised commuting transport in Durban in line with Durban’s climate change adaptation and mitigation goals.  Bikeparks/Pumptracks are planned at seven site initially all over Durban, KwaMashu is one of the identified sites.

Key Duties

Maintain the Bike Park as follows:

  • Assist the Bike Park coaches to maintain the condition of the track.
  • The preparation of soil for the planting of plants.
  • Planting of trees, flowers, grass and other plants.
  • The maintenance of flowers and other garden beds.
  • The mowing of lawns and cutting of hedges if applicable.
  • The loading and unloading of variety of articles needed on grounds on/off trucks.
  • Keep other structures on grounds (parking areas, containers, etc.) clean and tidy.
  • Assist with preparation of the bike park for events.
  • Check the serviceability of machinery and equipment. Report any fault on terrain.
  • Removal of refuse bags.
  • Removal of leaves, dried branches, etc around the bike park.
  • Assist in the construction phase of the bike park facility.

Key Skills, Experience and requirements

Applicants should possess:

  • Gardening competencies
  • Care of use of Equipment
  • Hard working and self - assured
  • Physical fitness
  • Satisfactory level of spoken English competency will be an advantage.
