Our foundation in the Umgeni Valley, our aspirations transcending boundaries.
We began in the biodiverse corridor of the Umgeni River Valley in 2009. Fostering an innovative partnership with the eThekweni Municipality (link to strategic partnerships), our work with communities pioneered our early eco-programme approach.
The Green Corridor hubs that have emerged across river, ocean and land ecosystems within Durban have become our incubators for social and environmental initiatives. With a collective focus on youth and sport development, open space management and restoration, and eco-tourism and learning, we have generated a growing portfolio of Purpose-Projects focused on driving local sustainability, balanced habitats and community resilience.
Our unifying narrative transcends the constraints of wards, borders and regions, by embracing eco-system thinking and the interdependence of communities with nature. The renaming of Durban Green Corridors to Green Corridors speaks to this and is a significant step in the evolution of the organization, connecting learnings from our local innovation partnerships to the neighbouring region and beyond.
This shift is gear, and our embedded purpose and ethos positions us as ideal partners and agents for the realisation of vibrant, sustainable and economically integrated communities.
