Durban has been named the South African city with the highest quality of life, according to Mercer’s 2015 Quality of Living survey. The highest ranked African city (beaten narrowly by Port Louis, the Capital of Mauritius)

Durbanites are typically very enthusiastic about their city and if you live here, well you know why, if you're a visitor, you'll soon discover that the incredible outdoor, active lifestyle of Durban, wonderful mix of people, excellent recreational facilities all make this city a pretty special place. Durban is just jam packed with incredible beaches, well known tourist landmarks and a host of interesting, adventurous places you probably didn't even know existed.

Durban trumped Cape Town (who came 91st) and Joburg (who rolled in at 94th). And why? Because of our “high-quality housing, plentiful recreational offerings and good consumer goods availability,” this, according to Mecer’s 2015 Quality of Living Rankings.

The rankings cover 230 destinations for globally mobile talent. Each city’s ranking is determined by the following factors:

1. Political and social environment
2. Economic environment
3. Socio-cultural environment
4. Medical and health considerations
5. School and education
6. Public services and transportation
7. Recreation
8. Consumer goods
9. Housing
10. Natural environment

Good Job Durban!!
